Know the About The Facebook's "Discover people'' feature

Hyderabad: Facebook recently introduced a new section called 'Discover People'. The app-only addition (so far) has been rolled out to users worldwide on both Android and iOS.

The feature debuted on Australia and New Zealand last year, but was restricted to these regions. Here's all you need to know about this new addition to social networking platform Facebook.

What is Facebook 'Discover People' feature?

The all-new 'Discover People' tool lets you see profiles of Facebook users who are in your town, attending an event in which you are interested in or are working in the same company. It's not necessary that you may know all of them. Also, the feature will not be showing you those users who are already on your friend's list.

Where can I find this feature?

Since it's an incremental update, not all Facebook users will be able to see the option right away. But you can always check the 'Discover People' feature in the navigation section below options such as Friends, Events, Groups, Nearby Places and more.

How do I get started?

As soon as you tap on the particular option, Facebook shows your profile and lets you update various sections including bio, featured photos and more. Below the particular option you will see a list of events where you are going or may be interested in going. Once tapped, the window will show you Facebook profiles of users who are attending the same event. Further down the list are Facebook profiles of those who live in the same town as yours or work in your company.

Although Facebook's efforts to boost user networking is appreciable, this new feature might give some users a stalker-ish feel. Many Facebook users may not even like the idea of being discovered and approached by strangers.
